PUB RACE

ARH2009052424056sm

SUNDAY 30th MAY
A record 30 teams competed in fancy dress and visited all the pubs in the town.
Hundreds of people veryone came out to cheer the fantastic array of teams in their costumes from lego bricks to vicars, all taking part and raise money for local good causes. This year a fantastic £2000 was collected!

This year there was a slightly longer route:
Kings Arms - Bell Inn - Site of Railway* - Prince Regent
Sports & Social Club - Harvest Home - White Hart

A full Report is on the Town Website

Winners of the various categories were:
Fastest team:
1st Wet Wet Wet, in an incredible 37 minutes!
2nd ASBOS
3rd Chunderbirds

Most Raised:
G I Janes; A fantastic £449.50

Best Fancy Dress:
Englego: how they made it up the hill in those Lego suits, who knows!

Best Team Effort:
Girls 'R' Lads; how many performances did they entertain us with?

*Why did we include the Railway this Year?
Destruction and loss of local pubs, especially without any permission, is tearing the heart out of community social life.
Help support CAMRA in trying to save our local pubs. Without the pubs and the hard working publicans there would be NO PUB RACE !
